What is the Dickerson Middle School Foundation? 

• Established in 2013, the DMS Foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is to enhance Dickerson Middle School’s ability to create meaningful, state-of-the-art educational experiences and innovative programming, improve the school facilities and promote the overall educational growth of DMS by providing financial resources beyond those provided by the Cobb County School District.

 

Why was the Foundation created? 

• Simply put, budget constraints limit the resources available to our students.  After losing several special teaching slots and seeing delays in needed facility maintenance and improvements, Dickerson parents saw the need to build a fund to fill the gap.  The Foundation was also created with the awareness that it was unfortunately evident that individual schools must secure the extra funding necessary to provide its students with the world class education they need as a foundation for future success.

 

How much am I asked to donate?

• The requested donation is $150 per family; however any donation amount is greatly appreciated.

 

Who decides how the money is spent?

• The DMS Foundation seeks input from teachers, administrators and parents to determine the best way to allocate the funds available.

 

How is the Foundation different from the PTSA?

• Both organizations have distinct and essential roles in improving the quality of our children’s education. Each works within specific parameters and is guided by its own mission and operational guidelines. By working together, we are able to support teachers and administrators, provide up-to-date technology and supplies, provide opportunities for student enrichment, capital improvements, and much more! By supporting these two wonderful organizations, you are truly investing in YOUR child’s education!

 

How can I make my donation?

I think my company will match my pledge. What’s the process?

• Many employers will match eligible contributions made by their employees, spouses, or retirees! Your donation to the DMS Foundation could be doubled! Every program is different, so please contact your company’s human resource/employee benefit department for assistance.
